- Higher charge-transfer and energy class than 3EB2: Qrs 7.5 As, thermal energy rating 26–104 kJ per rated voltage
- Silicone-rubber housing, 40 kA short-circuit current capability, for urban transport (light rail, metro, tram) and rail electrification at travel speeds up to 160 km/h
- Complies with DIN EN 50526-1 (DC railway surge arresters), DIN EN 45545-2 (fire protection) and IEC 61373 (shock & vibration); routine test certificate with every arrester
