3AP3-800

3AP3-800

Live-tank circuit breaker 3AP3, 362–550 kV with closing resistors, two interrupter units per pole, spring drive — platform extends to 800 kV as 3AP4/5 (four interrupter units), up to 63 kA / 5,000 A

3AP3-800
  • Closing-resistor variant of the 3AP live-tank platform: two self-compression interrupter units per pole plus pre-insertion resistors, offered for 362 kV to 550 kV applications (manufacturer catalog, 2022)
  • Above 550 kV the same modular platform continues as 3AP4 (four interrupter units per pole) and 3AP5 (with closing resistors on request), covering 800 kV — catalog reference design: 3AP4 FI 800 kV pole
  • Documented US-market ratings: 63 kA rated breaking and up to 5,000 A at 362 / 550 / 800 kV; lightning impulse withstand 1,175 / 1,800 / 2,100 kV respectively
  • Stored-energy spring operating mechanism and identical modular components across the whole 3AP family up to 1100 kV; FG, FE or FI base arrangements
  • Ordered family: SAP shows 33 order lines since 2018 under 3AP3 materials, both 420 kV FI configurations, including a KMAT (configurable) breaker

362 kV in the 2022 catalog The catalog's live-tank platform table carries no 362 kV column (it steps 300 → 420 kV); its dead-tank table lists 3AP2/3 362 (2 interrupter units) at 520 kV power-frequency withstand, 1,380 kV lightning impulse withstand, 950 kV switching impulse withstand, up to 4,000 A and up to 80 kA. The US live-tank brochure's 362 kV figures (PF 520 kV / LIWV 1,175 kV / 5,000 A / 63 kA) are retained in the group above as a documented inter-publication discrepancy.

Options & variants

From the SAP family-demand extraction (E3501; first order 2018-12-21, last 2026-06-30). Both 3AP3 materials are 420 kV FI configurations; the KMAT text confirms 3AP3FI-2 is a configurable breaker. The '3AP3FI-2-420KV' material text reads 'CABLE PARA PSD CAL. 22' verbatim in SAP — a PSD (point-on-wave switching device) control-cable text left on the material record, not a decoded product description. The Rev03 hierarchy also lists 3AP3FI-550kV and 3AP3DT-550kV (no order lines in the extraction); the 800 kV live-tank families are 3AP4FI-800kV (1 order line, 2025) and 3AP5FI-800kV (0 lines).
