Flyer · EN — Two-page product flyer introducing the 3FL composite long rod insulator family for suspension and tension applications from 72.5 kV to 800 kV. It presents the one-piece HTV silicone housing design, the two sealing-system options (A up to 210 kN, B from 100 kN to 630 kN), and the applicable IEC, ANSI and CSA design standards.
3FL composite long rod insulators combine high electrical insulation with high mechanical tensile strength in a compact, lightweight one-piece housing design. They are built for both suspension and tension applications on overhead lines.
The family covers voltage classes (Um) from 72.5 kV to 800 kV and mechanical classes (SML) from 70 kN to 630 kN, with two different sealing options available depending on customer requirements. The insulators can also be supplied in combination with line hardware and a line surge arrester.
Two sealing options protect the triple point — the critical junction of end fitting, FRP rod and housing. Sealing system A overmoulds the triple point directly, so it sits fully encapsulated inside the HTV silicone housing. Sealing system B achieves full encapsulation by completely filling the gap between housing and end fitting with an elastic silicone gel.
| Sealing system | Mechanical range | Sealing principle |
|---|---|---|
| Sealing system A | up to 210 kN | Triple point directly overmoulded and totally encapsulated in the HTV silicone housing |
| Sealing system B | 100 kN – 630 kN | Triple point totally encapsulated; gap between housing and end fitting completely sealed with elastic silicone gel |
Headline ratings for the 3FL long rod insulator family as stated in the flyer.
| Characteristic | Value |
|---|---|
| Voltage class (Um) | 72.5 kV – 800 kV |
| Mechanical class (SML) | 70 kN – 630 kN |
| Application | Suspension and tension |
The core is an ECR glass (boron-free), brittle-fracture-resistant FRP rod that is hydrolysis- and acid-resistant. The housing is HTV silicone rubber with a hydrophobicity transfer mechanism for highest pollution performance, applied by a direct-injection silicone molding process that prevents partial discharges.
End fittings are forged steel according to IEC 61466-1 and ANSI C29.2. An integrated grading ring reduces electrical field stress.
All 3FL long rod insulators are designed and tested in compliance with the latest versions of IEC 61109, ANSI 29.11, ANSI 29.12 and CSA C411.4-16. End fittings conform to IEC 61466-1 and ANSI C29.2.
