Datasheet · EN — Four-page Siemens Energy datasheet (© 2021) for the SPS2-362 high-voltage SF6 dead tank circuit breaker rated 362 kV. Covers the globally standardized design based on the FA spring-spring operating mechanism and 3AP arc-assist interrupter, standard features (2-cycle interrupting, one break per phase up to 63 kA, no TRV capacitors up to 63 kA), application-based customizations (point-on-wave switching, pre-insertion resistors, high seismic, -50 °C tank heaters), full ratings and supplementary specification tables, and dimensioned outline drawings.
The Siemens Energy SPS2 362 kV dead tank circuit breakers are built around two proven components shared across the entire SPS2 portfolio (15 kV – 550 kV): the time-tested FA spring-spring operating mechanism and the 3AP arc-assist interrupter.
The track record behind the platform is substantial: Siemens Energy has delivered more than 160,000 breakers worldwide, including over 46,000 SPS2 circuit breakers in the US market alone since the product line's release in 1997.
Every SPS2 362 kV breaker ships with the following as standard: no TRV capacitors are necessary for breakers rated up to 63 kA; 2-cycle interrupting time; the unit ships fully assembled and factory tested; a single break per phase handles ratings up to 63 kA; and the design requires no adjustments and virtually no maintenance.
The breaker can be tailored to the application with a range of factory options: a phase synchronizing device (PSD) for reliable point-on-wave switching; pre-insertion resistors (150 – 3500 Ω) with externally adjustable insertion time; high seismic designs qualified per IEEE 693; tank heaters enabling operation down to -50 °C; a common frame version; and composite bushings. Further options are available through local Siemens Energy representatives.
