Datasheet · EN — Official Siemens Energy technical datasheet (2021) for the 8DN8 gas-insulated switchgear, giving the complete rating table for the two voltage variants — up to 145 kV and up to 170 kV — including insulation levels, current ratings, operating sequence, bay dimensions and service-life figures.
This datasheet, published by Siemens Energy in 2021, summarizes the technical data of the gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) type 8DN8. All values are given side by side for the two rating classes of the switchgear: up to 145 kV and up to 170 kV.
The 8DN8 is rated for 50/60 Hz systems, is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, and is type-tested to IEC, IEEE and GOST standards. Values beyond those listed are available on request.
The full ratings table as printed in the datasheet. The two value columns correspond to the 145 kV and 170 kV rating classes. The row for rated switching impulse withstand voltage (250 / 2500 μs) is listed in the original document without printed values. Other values on request.

The 8DN8 circuit-breaker uses a stored energy spring drive mechanism in both rating classes, with a rated break time of less than 3 cycles and rated operating sequences of O-0.3 s-CO-3 min-CO and CO-15 s-CO.
The switchgear is type-tested to a gas leakage rate of less than 0.1 % per year and gas compartment. The first major inspection is due only after more than 25 years, and the expected lifetime exceeds 50 years.
The 145 kV class uses an 800 mm bay width with a bay height and depth of 2600 mm x 4100 mm (depending on bay arrangement) and a bay weight of 3 t. The 170 kV class uses a 1000 mm bay width, 3200 mm x 5500 mm bay height and depth, and a bay weight of 4.7 t.
Both variants are suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, operate over an ambient temperature range of -30 °C up to +55 °C, and accept a rated supply voltage of 48 – 250 V DC for secondary systems.
